Dormitories at Makerere College School (MACOS) are more than just living spaces—they are where discipline, character, and community are built. To strengthen these values, the school recently hosted a specialized Wardens’ Workshop to brief dormitory wardens on best practices in student management, safety, and care.
Core Focus Areas:
- Safety & Emergency Preparedness: Reviewing strict access control, rapid evacuation procedures, and fire safety protocols.
- Pastoral Care & Mental Health: Equipping wardens to spot early signs of student distress and foster a supportive, empathetic environment.
- Discipline & Academics: Enforcing clear guidelines for conduct and establishing quiet, structured evening study hours.
- Hygiene & Maintenance: Streamlining facility upkeep to ensure clean, safe, and functional living conditions.
The interactive session concluded with wardens gaining refreshed operational frameworks, reinforcing their role as the vital frontline anchors of the school’s student welfare and institutional culture.
